It’s a hit!

Those words can’t really accurately describe the total success of this inaugural return of off-road triathlon racing to Ontario.  James Kowalweski, his crew and the great turnout of volunteers made this event a perfect stage for a HUGE comeback of XTRERRA to Ontario.  The Mine over Matterrace is likely to become one of Ontario’s favourite alternative MultiSport race in very short order.  If you didn’t experience it this year…BOOK IT FOR NEXT YEAR!  I myself am giving thought to racing instead of shooting next year.  It just looked like WAY too much fun not to participate.

Rain, who cares…mud, bring it on!  Everyone from the first to the last athlete had nothing but praise for the event, the site, the course and the way they were treated.  Everyone got into the spirit of the race and seemed to thrive on the drizzle that lasted the entire event.  It seemed to make everyone live the event even more!  I myself went totally barefoot (It’s so Primal!) and loved the feel of mucky mud between my toes!

The venue (Kelso Conservation Area) provided an absolutely stunning backdrop for this race.  Safe, closed, contained, challenging, accessible and most of all just plain beautiful.  It’s nicely tucked away in the Halton Hills yet close enough to major routes that it is a perfect location to grow.

Congratulations to all the athletes and once again to James and the entire crew of the day for providing a great experience for everyone!
