We often have moments where you are witness to an amazing thing.  Every year at this time, I am privileged indeed to be able to witness and document one of the most amazing events you will find anywhere.  Joe’s Team Triathlon is to me one of the most moving and meaningful events I get to cover.

Founded by Joe Finley (a cancer survivor), the event raises money for Cancer Research at the Princess Margaret Hospital.  The event started out as a small part of the MultiSport Triathlon Gravenhurst weekend where they had a good showing of 150 racers.  Since then, the event has grown into a huge race of 550 participants (most of them first time Triathletes) and is hosted at the CNIB camp on Lake Joseph in the Muskoka’s.

A wonderful venue, perfect hosts, amazing volunteers, MultiSport Canada as your race technician, the participants, families and a dedicated staff of outstanding people make this event a total success.  It doesn’t end there.  In all of this is the reason for the event.  Fundraising.  I have NEVER seen such absolute, unselfish and generous fundraising…EVER!  As a testament to the sheer love that the people involved have for Joe Finley and his amazing family, this year’s event raised over 1.3 MILLION DOLLARS!!!!

It is life altering money that will save lives, increase the quality of life for cancer survivors and with the continued efforts of this event…will CURE CANCER IN OUR LIFETIME!

I am happy to have been a part of this event for the last 4 years and would like to thank all the people for allowing me to witness and capture the moments that are cherished.  I would also like to thank Bob Hatcher who travelled and shot this event with me this year.  His keen eye for the “moment” captured some amazing profile shots.
