 I hope you had a great week. Last week my world was chaotic. It was all about trying to fit in presentations and assignments for a course I am taking, an article for Triathlon Magazine Canada (look for it in the next issue), creating the HSBC Triathlon Series July Newsletter, and fitting in some final training sessions before tapering for Ironman Lake Placid.

 I am sure many of you have the same busy schedule but just different activities. That is the life of an age grouper and it is what makes what we are able to accomplish all the more remarkable. Getting a top 3 finish is nice but for the majority of us just making it to the start line is more than commendable. You must remember that many others do not have that ability so you should be grateful.

 During all that chaos, I still made sure to enjoy the accomplishments of some incredible athletes: Roger Federer (won his 15^th Grand Slam Title in a thrilling match), Daniel Nestor (a guy I grew up playing against – is quietly becoming a Canadian tennis legend, winning his 5^th career Grand Slam doubles title), and Lance Armstrong (it doesn’t surprise me how well he is doing. Do you really think he’d show up at the TDF not ready to get it on?), and yesterday’s performance by Chrissie Wellington, who shattered the Iron distance world record for women (8:31:59). Truly incredible.

 Speaking of greatness, we will see the cream of the Duathlon crop competing this Saturday at the Provincial Duathlon Championships in Gravenhurst. I will participate in the race and will get the chance to see these speedsters fly by me. Keep an eye out for Larry Bradley. Since Ironman Lake Placid is only 13 days away, I will not push too hard on the run but I might give the bike a go. It should be a fun weekend of racing. Yes, I will be racing on Sunday too.
